Retail solutions supporting a modern store transformation at ICA Kvantum Skövde

ICA Kvantum Skövde has combined a strong family legacy with a clear ambition for the future. Following its latest rebuild, the store has introduced merchandising solutions across almost every category to improve efficiency, support availability and create a consistently well-presented shopping environment. The result is a modern store where everyday tasks are easier, shelves stay well fronted, and shoppers experience a clearer, more inviting store.

A family-driven store with a long-term vision

ICA Kvantum Skövde has been family-owned for more than 25 years. Founded in 1998 by Urban Andersson, the store is today run by his daughters Martina Andersson, Therese Sundström and Sofia Andersson.

The most recent rebuild, completed in December 2025, was the fourth major transformation of the store. The vision was to create a welcoming and easy-to-maintain environment, with the ambition of becoming the most modern store in Skövde.

“It had been a dream for several years to do this rebuild, and we are very proud of what we have achieved together.”

Efficiency built into every category

Across the store, solutions from HL Display have been implemented with a clear focus on simplifying daily operations. Multivo Max™ pushers and Roller Track™ systems are used throughout the store to reduce manual fronting and keep shelves consistently well presented.

The family’s approach was clear: they did not hold back on solutions that could simplify everyday work in-store.

Fresh produce that looks full and reduces waste

In the fruit and veg department, the focus has been on creating a fresh, colourful and inviting first impression.

“It was important for us to create well-filled departments, fresh and modern, with solutions that make it easy for customers to shop.”

FreshBox allows products to remain visually full without requiring high stock levels. Adjustable back supports make it possible to control fill levels depending on need.

“You don’t need to have a lot of products in the box. It still looks full.”

Additional stock can be stored in cold storage, helping reduce waste and maintain freshness.

Clearer structure and increased sales in key categories

In the crispbread category, Roller Track™ and Next™ have improved visibility and simplified handling. "It is easy to work with, always well fronted and easy to refill."

The change has also had a direct commercial impact:

“Sales have increased, which means we will expand the crispbread section.”

In the pickled products category, the store introduced Roller Track™ to create a clearer overview of the assortment.

“Before it was quite messy. Now the assortment is very clear and it is easy for customers to choose.”

The department has even received customer feedback highlighting the difference:

“The nicest herring department we’ve seen!”

A modern dairy department built for efficiency

The dairy department was one of the key focus areas during the rebuild and is described by the team as one of the strongest parts of the store.

“It is among the best in the store.”

By enabling replenishment from inside the chillers using Roller Track™, staff can restock without interrupting customers. The setup supports FIFO (First In, First Out), improves customer flow and reduces the need to keep fridge doors open during replenishment.

The team also highlights the overall feeling created by the department, describing it as a modern space that creates different ‘rooms’ throughout the store.

Smarter working across the store

Across spices, grocery, beverages, confectionery and frozen, tailored solutions support faster and easier daily operations.

In spices, specialised shelving has improved access and made room for an additional shelf level:

“It is easy to work with and refill.”

In grocery and other high-volume areas:

“It is easier to work in the department. It goes faster. We sell more.”

In confectionery, Multivo™ Max pushers and other display solutions have improved structure and visibility:

“It gives a completely different feeling. It looks well filled and brings the products forward.”

Saving time and maintaining consistency

Across the store, the combined effect is a more efficient way of working and a consistently high presentation standard.

“It saves time, and it looks good for customers.”

The rebuild is still being evaluated as the team settles into daily operations, but the benefits are already clear. Across departments, the store has gained faster routines, clearer product presentation and easier replenishment.

“We can already see that we benefit from it. We are becoming more efficient. We want a well-fronted store every day of the week.”
